Celebrating 100 Years

Worthing Society for the Blind would like to express their immense gratitude to the mystery donor who posted a cheque through the door on Wednesday.  We would love to be able to thank you personally but rest assured we will put your donation directly to the benefit of the many vision impaired people living within the borough.

Once again, thank you.

Volunteers

We always need volunteer drivers for our minibus and mpv.  Experience of larger vehicles is an advantage but by no means a necessity, so if you have a few hours to spare ’every once in a while’ or if you’d like to volunteer as a home visitor or to help at clubs and classes, please give us a call.

Shop and Donate

Did you know you can shop online with major High Street retailers and they will make a donation to us!  Just go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk or www.everyclick.com/wsftb to find out more and to register

Terry Winstanley  -  Thank you to Terry Winstanley and all the stall holders and volunteers who made our Christmas Fayre such a success on 3rd December 2011.  We hope everybody had a good day and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Steve’s Berrett - Steve Berrett, son of the WSB Chairman, proudly presented the Worthing Society for the Blind with a cheque for £1,500 after taking part in the Brighton Marathon.  He raised the staggering amount in just ten days and successfully completed the course in 4 hours and twenty four minutes.

John Baker, Chief Executive of the Worthing Society for the Blind said: “We are absolutely delighted with Steve’s Marathon efforts.  With the wonderful amount he has raised the society is now able to purchase new equipment for our member activity sessions expanding what we are able to offer people living with vision impairment in Worthing.  Thank you to Steve, his sponsors and Michael Jones for their continued support”

Steve commented: “I’m really chuffed to have beaten my fundraising target of £1,000 for the Worthing Society for the Blind and to have run and completed my first marathon, especially as the hot weather made it all the more challenging.  I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported me.  Their generosity and good wishes kept me going right up until I crossed the finishing line.”

The Worthing Society for the Blind has places available for the 2012 Marathons and other events.  Anyone interested in running in next year’s events should contact Chris Gaskell on 01903 235782
